Soccer intelligence

Photo North Carolina.jpg

Specialising in soccer intelligence and game changing moments, sessions with Andy are able to improve the athlete's ability to impact the team environment and ensure a player understands timings and triggers of when and how to make those explosive movements we all love to see being perfected - as well as enabling players' footwork and touch enhancements with skill maintenance sharpening exercises.

Andy understands the beliefs students have about intelligence, effort, and struggle impact the choices they make about learning. People tend to hold one of two different beliefs about intelligence:

  • Athletes with a growth mindset believe that intelligence can be developed. These students see sport and education as a place to develop their abilities and think of challenges as opportunities to grow. "I can't do that" vs "I'm improving with every attempt I'm making".

  • Children with a fixed mindset believe that intelligence is fixed at birth and doesn’t change or changes very little with practice. These students see school as a place where their abilities are evaluated, they focus on looking smart over learning, and they interpret mistakes are a sign that they lack talent.

5 minute Task - Spend a moment to write 'I'm improving with each attempt' on a piece of paper. Then write the same sentence below it with your opposite hand that you use to write. Keep writing it again and again. Your ability to write is improving every attempt, right? See how many sentences it takes before your perceived 'weak' hand can write well. It doesn't take as long as you'd think! Activities to show the learner they can improve embeds a growth mindset where an individual can flourish.

Andy believes holding a growth mindset allows the individual/group to take chances without fear of failure.  Allowing each athlete to express their own personality, increase standards of play and ultimately, thrive in their chosen environment!

The academy's soccer sessions are created with the individual's aims and objectives in mind, added to the extensive exposure of elite level activities and GPS technology, handing the athlete the opportunity to keep tabs on their own physical performance during game intense sessions and competitive matches, as well as objective support with positional intelligence and smart movements on the field.

The world of competitive sports can be fierce and cutthroat, and for that any aspiring athlete is going to want the best possible coach available in their corner. Andy has turned his past experience and winning mentality into a well developed training regime. Andy will encourage and support any participant fully invested as they unlock their full athletic potential and thrive with a growth mindset.
